The Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva is renowned for its annual home tour, “Peek at the Unique.” Based at the Sanibel Community Church and set for Saturday, March 13, this year’s pandemic-observant event will take place largely online.
Zonta’s 2020 grant funds support Community Housing and Resources (CHR), whose mission is to provide affordable housing for families and individuals who work in and serve the community of Sanibel.
Zonta’s 2020 grant funds have been used by Dress for Success for the Women Empowered Through Employment Series (WETES) and the Entrepreneurial Spirit Program (E$P).
Zonta 2020 grant funds helped support the Dr. Piper Center’s Foster Grandparents Program, which creatively links these low-income elderly and children with special needs aged 4-17.
Due to the last-minute cancellation of the 19th annual “Peek at the Unique”, and in company with many island organizations, Zonta will face a larger than usual shortfall when grants to local non-profits are decided later this year.
Peeking into adjacent homes “born” over 40 years apart is an innovation on this year’s tour. Set for Saturday, March 14, the 19th annual “Peek at the Unique” by the Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva will again open doors to normally private island homes. Tickets are on sale now at www.EventBrite.com for $100 each ($90 for afternoon departures, if available) plus a small service fee; scroll down to select from available seats.
As loyal “Peekers” know, the Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva promises rare experiences on its annual home tour, “A Peek at the Unique,” which raises funds to support organizations whose work empowers women.
Another record-breaking year for Zonta! Each year in January, the Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva, through its foundation, awards grants to local non-profits whose missions mirror Zonta’s own: empowering women and girls.
