The Zonta Foundation of Southwest Florida, the grant-awarding arm of the Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva, was honored recently by Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build project. At a reception in the Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center in Fort Myers, the Zonta group was recognized as a Bronze Hammer sponsor for its 2021 support, and applauded for its commitment to Women Build over the years, both in funding and in volunteer construction work.
Founded in 1991, Women Build brings together women architects, contractors, and construction volunteers every year to build affordable homes in safe communities for women-led families. The mission of Zonta San-Cap, like that of Women Build, is to empower women to become productive community members and to provide them with safe and affordable housing.
Zonta invites you to help them continue supporting Women Build and around 15 other non-profit agencies whose work champions women: participate in their second fund-raising effort of the year. “Zonta’s Peek at the Unique Auction” is open now online, runs through October 31, and features more than 70 experiences, art works, treasures and more. Visit 32auctions.com/ZontaPEEK21 and join the fun! Choose from fabulous places to stay, from Sanibel to Asheville; consider land and sea excursions; enjoy guided tours of Sanibel favorites (CROW, the Shell Museum, Historical Village); bid on show tickets, dinners, private lessons, gifts and more.
Zonta has created a safe and unique event, in support of their mission to positively impact women and girls. To become a part of Zonta’s ongoing work, visit www.ZontaSanCap.org.
