After a brief hiatus due to Covid and Hurricane Ian, the Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva is delighted to announce the return of “A Peek at the Unique,” the beloved home tour and signature event which raised more than one million dollars over two decades to help local non-profits empower women and girls. In addition, Zonta invites you to three fun nights out: “Jukebox Bingo.” Every dollar raised at these events funds programs that improve the lives of women and girls, locally and internationally.
Save the date! Peek 2024 is set for Saturday, March 16, 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the Sanibel Community House. With two spectacular houses and one garden, all showcasing Sanibel resilience, buses will travel on a relaxed schedule to accommodate guests who wish to linger.
Zonta’s first “Peek” was held in March, 2002 and over the years consistently raised mounting funds to support Zonta’s mission; the event quickly became a sell-out. Despite the challenges of recent years, Zonta has continued to award grants: for 2024, grants totaling $18,750 will go to three Lee County nonprofits plus to Zonta International Scholarships.
“I am very excited about our club’s plans to bring back ‘A Peek at the Unique,’” said Nori Ann Reed, Zonta President. “This is not the ‘Peek’ of old – it is more a ‘petite Peek,’ respectful of businesses and residents on the island and the difficult 16 months we have had.” Ticket information for “Peek,” available through Eventbrite, will be forthcoming; seats are limited.
The second fun-raising event, in partnership with the Sanibel Community House, is “Jukebox Bingo,” on three upcoming Wednesdays: February 21, March 20 and April 17, 4:00-6:00 p.m. Jukebox Bingo is a twist on the popular game enjoyed by millions, using music from the 60s and 70s as the basis for completing the familiar cards. No special talent is required, and there will be gift-card prizes. Tickets are $20 at the Community House door; reservations are not needed but seats are limited. There will be a cash bar and a table with snacks in exchange for donations. Join us and sing along to your favorite songs from a great musical era.
