Mission:
Zonta grants go to: Community Housing & Resources (CHR) for scholarship funds enabling a resident to enroll in vocation-related higher education; FISH (Friends in Service Here) for emergency financial assistance to single mothers for medical care or housing expenses; and Sanibel School/City of Sanibel for tuition assistance to single mothers to enroll children in After School and Summer Day Camp while the mothers are at work.
Zonta Partnership:
Zontians involved in SWOTI also are busy volunteers throughout the year, from helping staff the FISH office, raise monies and canned goods for the food pantry and “Milk Fund,” to working with CHR women residents, particularly on a new cookbook project, to hosting occasional potlucks and get-togethers with CHR residents. In January this year, SWOTI organized an important program with an attorney, a surgeon, and a hospital chaplain to explain “Documents Every Woman Needs” for financial and healthcare security. |
