ACT - Abuse Counseling & Treatment, Inc.

Abuse Counseling & Treatment, Inc. (ACT) is a private, non-profit agency committed to serving victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking in Lee, Hendry and Charlotte counties.

Zonta Foundation Grant :ACT uses its Foundation grant money to partially fund the salaries of two full-time, bilingual counselors serving the area’s Hispanic community.  Their efforts include treating victims of human trafficking (often very young women) and, since 2013, coordinating a program that helps victims of domestic violence cope with the stress of their ordeals. Further outreach involves training volunteers to help identify victims of domestic violence and human trafficking.

Zonta Club Service: Beauty Night: The Zonta team arranged for a Night of Beauty at the Salon Professionals Academy for ACT’s clients. (See photos below)  Prior to this, Zonta arranged for a talk for the Salon students on Human Trafficking and Domestic Violence, to help them identify signs as well as prepare them for working with ACT’s clients. The  service team also provides educational seminars to help build self-confidence and improve the future prospects for the women who seek help from ACT.
